Yeman Crippa, the crown jewel of the Italian middle-distance racing.
He was born in Etiopia in 1996 and was adopted inTrentino. Yeman Crippa is the Italian record holder in 10.000 meters running race.
After he started running with the Atletica Valchiese of the late lamented Marco Borsari, today he lives and trains in Trento, following the teaching of Massimo Pegoretti, ex Italian middle distance runner.
Crippa has been excelling in all the categories and disciplines, from mountain running to cross-country race.
On the lawns, when he was still a pupil, he got the sixth place with the Junior Italian team in 2013, the best position for an European team.
In December 2014 in the European Cross he won the Junior individual and team gold medals.
In 2016 he won the individual bronze and the team gold under 23 in the European Cross Country Championships.
In 2017 he set the Italian record in the 5.000 meters indoor and won the European gold under 23 thanks to an amazing comeback.
In 2018 he took away from Francesco Panetta the best Italian performances in 5.000 and 10.000 meters that went back to 1985, and also took away the performance from Stefano Mei in 3.000 meters, before getting the bronze medal in 10.000 meters in the European Champions of Berlin.
In 2019 he won the bronze medal in the European Cross and, in October, in the World Athletics Championship in Doha, he broke the record, after thirty years, of Salvatore Antibo in 10.000 meter with the time 27:10.76, obtaining the eight place.
Lowers his time in the 5.000 meters to 13:02.26 gained the Italian record, to 7:38.27 in the 3.000, beating another Italian record!
In 2021, he participated at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
In 2022, another record for Yeman, this time in the half-marathon: with 59'26", he fell under one hour and signed the new Italian record at the Naples City Half Marathon. At the European Championships in Munich, he won the bronze medal in the 5,000 metres and won his first gold medal in the 10,000 metres, rewriting Italian history in this discipline.
Best results in 2023:
Bronze medal in the 5 km at the European Athletics Championships in Poland.
Gold medal in the European Cup 10 km in France.
In his first marathon in Milan, he achieved fifth place.
