THE ONGOING WORKSSteeped in the Lombard Gothic style and renovated during the Renaissance, the Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta over time took on considerable importance and underwent continous works that enriched its interior and exterior, until the general renovation work carried out between 1495 and 1509 by Alberto Comanedi, who gave it the appearance it still retains today. Since then as many as thirty-two artists have worked to embellish it, leaving behind a rich artistic heritage, brought back to its former glory by the recent restoration.
TO NOTICEOf great valure are surely the large stone portal, the 16th century votive frescoes, the furnishings, the silverware and, above all, the wooden altars.
The majestic gilded polychrome altarpiece from 1538 by the Lombard master Maffeo Olivieri certainly stands out.
