The original construction of this small but characteristic church is due to the monks of the hospice of Campiglio who used it as a valley branch of the largest monastery of Santa Maria.
In 1500 there is documentation of a restoration of the church, still owned by the monks, which a century later will be decorated with the golden Ligurian altar still housed inside, depicting Saint Jerome in the act of writing the Bible and Our Lady of Sorrows. The church was regularly used for functions until 1825.
