Access
From Madonna di Campiglio, follow the signs for Patascoss and then for Malga Ritorto (2 km / 1.25 mi along a flat paved road through the forest). During the off season, when the gate is open, you can continue along the road. During the tourist season, it is ordinarily possible to reach the malga outside of the times when traffic is restricted (gate will be up). Ask for more information. In any event, the malga can always be reached on foot (about a 30 min. walk).
In winter, access is exclusively by cable car Colarin-Patascoss and then along the snow-covered path.

Themes
Sunrise / Sunset / Landscapes
Malga Ritorto is the ideal spot for easy access to magnificent shots of sunsets, sunrises and landscapes. The best times for photography are also usually the least hectic of the day (sunset/sunrise), especially during the high season. You can position your tripod in the parking area near the restaurant/café to enjoy the magnificent view of a large part of the Brenta Dolomites and figure out the best way to photograph them. Look around to find the best vantage point, and you may want to head a bit up the trail behind the malga until you reach a large cross.
At dawn
Be sure to check what time the sun will rise to the east from behind Pietra Grande and the Grostè pass.
At dusk
The exact time of the sunset will vary throughout the year. In summer, the best time for photography usually starts at 7 PM when the sun shines just right on the Brenta Dolomites and the mountains gradually take on the red and pink hues of the alpenglow before leaving a small point of light on Crozzon di Brenta as night falls.
