An easy hike from Madonna di Campiglio to Clemp, a panoramic spot where you will find a number of characteristic mountain farmhouses known as masi (singular: maso) and a fort from World War I.
This panoramic outing follows the outline of the mountains from Madonna di Campiglio to the forts of Clemp, above the village of Sant’Antonio di Mavignola and with a stunning view out over the Brenta Dolomites. Fascinating relics from World War I include a short trench and the remains of a fort.
From its elevated position, this fort loomed over the Campiglio valley out to Carisolo, where soldiers could surveil a fairly vast territory of strategic importance. The 40-meter-long fortress included a sniper outpost with two overlapping rows of embrasures, which are still visible to this day, overlooking the switchbacks along the road to Madonna di Campiglio. Only the outer walls of this fort and a few sections of roof remain, but this still gives us an idea of what the original structure must have looked like.
