San Martino hermitage tour

San Martino Hermitage Tour title=

Panoramic route of intermediate difficulty that binds outdoor activities and culture. Enchanting viev on Val Rendena.

You can get to the hermitage of San Martino from two different starting points.

The first option begins along Via San Martino: at the first switchback, take trail SAT 228, which you will see to your left.

The second option is to start from Prisa along a steeper section of trail. The two routes come together at a certain point, and the final portion features a section equipped with a steel cable.

The hermitage is situated at 1226 meters a.s.l. and is famous for a popular legend, according to which the hermitage was inhabited by one of the last hermits. According to the popular imagination, this hermit lived on the bread that a tame bear was used to bring to him and his death was announced by the blooming in January of the local flowers called "maggiociondolo".
It is a very fascinating route, in particular during spring and autumn, when the wood has bright colors.
It is not a difficult route, apart from two exposed stretches even if well protected by iron ropes, and it is suitable for children from 8/10 years old too.
