A lovely, easy outing in the untamed Val Genova from Malga Bedole to Malga Matarot Bassa and the Matarot falls.
Leave your car at Malga Bedole, then take the dirt road in the direction of Rifugio Bedole. When you reach the stunning Ponte delle Cambiali overlooking a deep gorge, head back up to the left along a staircase trail to Mandra Matarot. From here, you can see the Lobbia glacier above and the majestic Matarot waterfall gushing through the endless expanse of ice and giant pyramids of rock.
The Matarot waterfall is one of many in Val Genova and is the most majestic. Considered one of the wonders of the Alps, the roar of this glittering, 400-meter (1,300-foot) wall of water only underscores its majesty.
