On this walk you can appreciate rich biodiversity. It begins gently and then becomes steeper until you reach the cross at the top of Monte Bruffione, from where you can enjoy a stunning view.
The starting point is Malga Val Avèrta, an alpine hut which can be reached by car or by bike, starting from the village of Brione, along a slightly winding asphalt road that enters a valley that becomes progressively narrower and is bordered by steep rock faces.
Once you reach the refuge, the landscape opens up and becomes a wide corridor leading to a solitary amphitheatre covered with larch trees and alpine meadows, which in summer are full of all kinds of flowers.
From Malga Val Avèrta, path SAT 257 starts and goes straight up to the top of Monte Bruffione. After the first stretch through the larch wood (very suggestive in autumn) and the next one along the pasture, it climbs from Malga Bòndolo up the steep slope of Monte Bruffione, covered with numerous erratic tonalite blocks.
Once at the top, you can enjoy an enchanting view of the entire Val d'Avèrta below and of the mountains on the southern slopes of the Adamello tonalite and ice massif.
The descent to the Bocca di Remà mountain pass (path SAT 257b) offers not only a wonderful panoramic view, but also a real immersion in history thanks to the numerous remains of trenches, barracks and mule tracks built by the Italian army during the First World War.
Continue your journey on La Via delle Valli, where you can choose to explore any of the 50 proposed valleys. Find out more at: www.campigliodolomiti.it/laviadellevalli.
You will find signs and stamps in the valleys from July 2025.
From Val Avèrta, you can reach two other valleys along La Via delle Valli: Val de Ribor and Val Nova.
To reach Val de Ribor, when you get to the Bocca di Remà crossroads, take path SAT 250 towards Lago dei Casinei, a beautiful mountain lake. At the Casinei di Nuova crossroads, follow path SAT 258 towards the Malga Cleabà mountain hut. Continue along the forest road until you reach the crossroads for Malga Narone, where you will join the Val de Ribor hiking route.
There are two ways to get to Val Nova:
- A shorter route that's pretty much all downhill: start at Bocca di Remà, take path SAT 250 and follow it until you hit Bocca di Frontale, which is where the Val Nova itinerary ends.
- A longer route, with descents and ascents: at the Passo del Lago crossroads, take path SAT 250 towards Lago Nero. Once you have reached the lake, continue along path SAT 250 towards Buca dell'Orso and go on until you reach Bocca di Frontale, which is where the Val Nova itinerary ends.
