For over a century, the extraction of barium sulphate (or baryte), which began at the end of the nineteenth century, has shaped the economy, society and territory of this corner of the Valle del Chiese. The tunnels of the last mine were closed in 2009, but today the abandoned mines of this mineral - little known but very useful in medicine and radiology - are revived by an association that brings together enthusiasts and experts. They accompany you with guided tours and fascinating itineraries through the places of life and work of women, men and children, above and below the mountain.
