A historic retreat surrounded by stone giants.
Rifugio XII (Twelve) Apostoli, located at an altitude of 2489 m, is the starting point for the Bocchette path and other excursions on the peaks of the Brenta Dolomites. Defining the position it occupies as happy is almost reductive: the refuge stands on a natural balcony of limestone overlooking the underlying Val Nardis, in front of the theory of snow-capped peaks that go from Care' Alto to Presanella, which rise just beyond the green furrow of Val Rendena. And the name? Named after the Garbari brothers, the refuge is commonly called "The Twelve", recalling the surrounding rock formations reminiscent of prayer figures.
The aura of spirituality is complemented by the nearby church, one of the most particular and spectacular made at high altitude: a 10-metre rock cross opens into the wall, allowing the blue sky to enter the sacred space.
