The parish church of San Martino in Zuclo
ORIGIN AND POSITIONThis is a church with Longobard origin and it stands on a hill above the village of Zuclo.
Two long front steps lead up to the facade of the building. The first one is wide and is accompanied by tabernacles frescoed in 1987 by Livio Conta, depicting the Stations of the Cross, while the second one is narrow (Pirrelca) and is full of small granite steps that start from Via Vittorio Emanuele II below.
THE STRUCTUREThe current structure in late Baroque style, was built by Pietro Bianchi in 1773. Inside are marble altars, wooden statues of St. Martin, of the “Madonna della Neve” and of the “Madonna with the Child”, as well as three paintings in the presbytery depicting scenes from the life of St. Martin.
Outside, the imposing granite bell tower with five bells and a clock.
