Passengers may bring along, free of charge, lap dogs and small pets that, due to their size, can be comfortably held in the arms of the accompanying person.
Larger animals are admitted for transport subject to space availability and the price of the corresponding ticket is paid for them (excluding guide dogs for the blind and deaf, which travel free of charge).
In both cases, the animals travel under the responsibility of the accompanying person, who must take all necessary precautions and equipment so as not to cause damage or inconvenience to travellers. In particular, a muzzle and leash no longer than 1.5 metres are prescribed for dogs, both of which are compulsory for all dogs regardless of their size (alternatively a special carrier).
Excluded:
- guide dogs for the blind and deaf,
- dogs trained to support the disabled,
- dogs belonging to the armed forces, police, civil defence and fire brigades (Ministry of Health Ordinance 6/8/13, art. 5).
Animals belonging to wild or dangerous species are not permitted.
Each passenger may accompany only one animal.
If the animal defiles, deteriorates the vehicle or causes damage to persons or property in any way, the owner is liable to pay compensation for the damage.
