Walking along the state road in Rendena, which leads from Giustino to Pinzolo, we notice on the right the signs of the massive excavations that for over two centuries have taken place in one of the largest open-cast mines in the entire Giustino mining complex.
In 1797 an entrepreneur from Altare (Savona), Giuseppe Bormioi, founded a glassworks in Val d 'Algone, specialising in the production of glass slabs. From 1942, the search for rich strands of quartz resumed and a cable car was built. The valley station was inside a building with a masonry base and a large raised floor in which the gears and the motor of the line were housed, an imposing and centrally located building that was later transformed into the current town hall.
