The building, named after Saint Valentine, dates back to the late 1300s.
Located on a spectacular spur at the mouth of the Valentine's Valley overlooking the villages of Villa Rendena and Javrè, it is dedicated to Valentino (martyr at the time of Emperor Claudius). Simon II decorated the ribbed vault of the apse with images of Christ Blessing, the Annunciation, the Doctors of the Church and the Evangelists, the latter inserted in a curious pictorial space similar to a free sky, where the figures hover in the air. The whole is completed with the walls of the presbytery frescoed during 1539 (in the same period as the frescoes at the church of San Vigilio di Pinzolo), depicting scenes from the Life of St. Valentine divided into boxes with related captions with an "educational" function for the faithful. Unfortunately, these decorations have been partially damaged by the dull.
STRENGTH:
The ideal location for walks in nature and the works of Simone Baschenis.
